Traffic Fatality

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --

The Miami-Dade Police Department, Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating a traffic crash that left one passenger deceased and one critically injured.

According to investigators, the vehicle was traveling south on Jacaranda Lane when it drove into a lake. The driver (Jonathan Perez) and passenger (Kevin Placeres) were able to exit the vehicle without injuries. The remaining two passengers were extracted from the submerged vehicle by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and transported to Palmetto General Hospital. Christopher Jamie was pronounced deceased by Palmetto General Hospital medical staff. The 15-year-old female was subsequently transported to Ryder Trauma Center in critical condition.

The investigation continues.
