Florida Governor Rick Scott and Lt. Governor Jennifer Carroll to Kick-off World Trade Week 2011

Governor Rick Scott and Lt. Governor Jennifer Carroll will kick off World Trade Week 2011 in Miami on May 19 when he presides over a forum titled: Breaking Down the Barriers to International Trade

South Florida's international trade community and businesses celebrate World Trade Week each year to promote international trade in both the local and national economy. This annual event, first observed in the 1920s, takes on additional significance this year as Florida's leaders address the most pressing statewide challenge:  how to create new and well-paying jobs.

This year's event has been expanded to include nine days of activities aimed at promoting international trade and highlighting its role as a powerful driver of the local economy.

World Trade Week runs May 19 through May 27 with an expanded schedule of seminars and networking events. Everyone is invited to participate and learn more about why international trade is paramount for economic growth.
