(MIAMI, May 13, 2013) – On Tuesday, May 14th Governor Rick Scott will visit PortMiami as part of the Building Up Manufacturing Victory Tour, which celebrates the legislation just passed by the State of Florida Legislature eliminating sales tax on manufacturing equipment.
"We support Governor Scott's initiative on the elimination of sales tax on manufacturing equipment," said Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez. "Strengthening the manufacturing industry in Miami-Dade County is vital to increasing international trade."
Miami-Dade County Board of County Commissioner's Chairwoman Rebeca Sosa added, "We are grateful to Governor Scott for championing this legislation which will help increase manufacturing in our state and create much needed jobs."
"Florida's seaports support more than 680,000 jobs. PortMiami contributes approximately $28 billion annually to the South Florida economy and helps provide direct and indirect employment for more than 207,000," said Bill Johnson, PortMiami Director.
