PortMiami recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting

(MIAMI, October 8, 2014) – PortMiami has been recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended September 30, 2013.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by government and management. The award was presented to PortMiami Director Juan. M. Kuryla on behalf of PortMiami.

“This award recognizes our efforts at creating transparency throughout government by increasing the level of disclosure and openness to taxpayers and others,” said Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. “It’s my pleasure to congratulate the team at PortMiami on this important honor.”

PortMiami’s CAFR is a compilation of all port related financial facts and figures for the fiscal year. It was judged by an impartial panel and chosen for its ability to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users to read the CAFR.
