    Important Notice
    Effective October 1, 2010, all pre-arranged ground transportation companies (including out of town companies) are required to have a permit to operate at the Port of Miami. Companies wishing to obtain a permit must contact the port's permit section at 305-347 4964.

    All companies with active permits must register and install a transponder for all vehicles coming into the Port of Miami. Please call 305-960 5445 or e-mail for further details. All vehicles must be registered and have a transponder by October 1, 2010.

    According to PIERS Global Intelligence Solutions, the premier source of data collection for the most comprehensive database of cargoes moving through ports in the United States, Latin America and Asia, Miami is the No. 1 containerized cargo port in Florida and No. 11 in the nation.
     
    The Port contributes over $17 billion annually to the South Florida economy and helps provide direct and indirect employment for over 176,000 jobs.

    Deep Dredge JobsMiami-Dade County officials are teaming up with South Florida business and civic leaders to send a message to Washington—investing in the Port of Miami’s Deep Dredge translates into jobs, jobs, jobs.  The Port of Miami is seeking $75 million in federal funding to deepen Miami Harbor to -50 feet in order to accommodate the new, larger cargo ships that will pass through an expanded Panama Canal beginning in 2014.
