Coral reefs are among the most biologically diverse, productive and beautiful habitats in our ecosystem. The Port of Miami has funded creation of 11 artificial reefs in Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. The Port’s reefs have been innovative — using special materials and deployment techniques — and highly successful as habitat and recreational resources for the community.

Additionally, the Port has partnered with the U.S. Coral Reef Task Force and is developing a long-term strategy in helping to conserve coral reefs by setting up a monitoring program in efforts to conserve, monitor and manage coral reef species.
