How to submit your work

The Artists Registry serves as a resource to the community and to Art in Public Places in the selection process for new public art commissions. Once an artist is in the registry, he or she will be advised of all upcoming public art opportunities. Professional artists working in all media are invited to submit the following information to open a file in the Art in Public Places Artists Registry:

Slides or Digital Images
Include at least five and no more than twenty images of your current work.

Digital Images must be sent on a CD in .JPG format with a resolution of 72 dpi. formatted for the MS Windows environment. Any masking/borders should be black, not white. Image files must be properly labeled each with artist's full name, title of the work, and a number (1-20) assigned to it. You may include text items (statement, resume and Image ID sheet) on the CD, however you must also send hard copies of those items. CDs must be clearly labeled with the artists name and sent in a protective case.

All slides must be 35mm, 2" x 2" mounts (no glass mounts), encased in a 9" x 11" standard clear plastic slide sheet. Three-dimensional work should be represented by at least two views. Slides should be properly labeled, each with the artist's full name, the title of the work, and a number (1-20) assigned to it. To indicate the proper orientation of the artwork, place a dot in the lower left-hand corner of the slide.                                               On preliminary reviews, only five slides per artist will be projected. Please number in order of priority (1-5) the five digital images or slides you wish reviewed.

Slide/Image List
For each digital image or slide, please indicate the image or slide number (1-20), the title, the materials or medium, dimensions in inches (height x width x length), and date of completion of the work represented. The artist's name, address, phone number and email should also be indicated on this page.

Artists Registry Form

Artists working in video/sound, time-based media, conceptual and other works that cannot be adapted to a slide presentation, should submit documentation of their work in the format in which it is best represented. Such items may be audio or videotapes, blueprints, or photocopies. All non-slide presentations should be accompanied by a brief typed description of the documentation with the artist's name, address and phone number clearly indicated on the page. Video, film, or audio works may only be presented in audio or videocassette format. Audio/video and/or film will be submitted in VHS tape and standard audiotapes. List start and end numbers of segments to be presented on both the tape and the description page. Blueprints, photocopies, etc. should each be labeled with the artist's name address and phone number. List each item on a separate 8 ½" x 11" description page, also labeled with the artist's name and address and phone number. Any additional description of the artworks may be briefly included here.

Submission materials will be retained in the Artists' Registry unless a written request for their return is enclosed with a self-addressed, stamped envelope.

Original artwork, i.e., photographs, drawings, or models will not be accepted for review, nor will unsolicited proposals specific to a project unless requested in a project announcement. After review, materials will be retained in the Artists' Registry unless we receive a written request for their return, accompanied by a self-addressed stamped envelope.

Artists are encouraged to update their materials annually.
