Buster Simpson created sculptural seating for three stations on the Omni leg of Metromover. His platform benches are crafted as a remnant of the street below. In the face of no alternatives, the curb on the street has traditionally served as public seating. By elevating the curb and reinterpreting its customary materials and texture in polished terrazo, it is placed in a new context: one to be sat upon and studied. The artist inlaid Hurricane Andrew debris in the terrazo with symbols of mangrove roots to symbolize rebirth and to express the exuberance of Miami's culture.
