(MIAMI, February 17, 2012) – Local cycling groups have planned a memorial bicycle ride and rally in honor of Aaron Cohen, a bicyclist who was struck and killed on the Rickenbacker Causeway this week. The activity will take place from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012. Members of the cycling community will gather at the Rickenbacker Causeway and cycle to the top of the William Powell Bridge for a memorial ceremony.
To ensure the safety of all participants, the Public Works and Waste Management Department will modify the east and westbound traffic on the Rickenbacker Causeway. Motorists who anticipate driving on the Rickenbacker Causeway between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on Saturday morning should expect delays. If possible, motorists are asked to reschedule any activities they may have in the affected areas between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. As always, motorists are reminded to obey all traffic laws and exercise caution when driving near bicyclists.
Notice: All media planning to cover tomorrow’s memorial ceremony will need to park on Hobie Island and use the pedestrian walkway to access the ceremony site.
