(MIAMI, April 18, 2012) – The Miami-Dade County Public Works and Waste Management Department (PWWM) invites County residents to "Shred It! Donate It! Recycle It!" this Earth Day – Sunday, April 22, 2012 – at one of two “Recycling Villages,” located at the PWWM’s Home Chemical Collection Centers:
- West Dade: 8831 NW 58 Street
- South Dade: 23707 SW 97 Avenue, Gate A (for this event only)
At its Recycling Villages, PWWM will partner with Goodwill Industries of South Florida and Shred-it-US-Southeast for a special one-day event in honor of Earth Day. Residential customers can bring home chemicals, paint, electronics and batteries to either Recycling Village so they can be recycled or disposed of properly. And on Earth Day only, residents can also bring gently used clothing, toys and books to donate, as well as up to two (2) “banker’s” boxes (file storage boxes) per car of old documents for confidential shredding, free of charge. Please note that no commercial items will be accepted, only residential items, please.
Although the PWWM Home Chemical Collection Centers are open Wednesday through Sunday year round from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., residents should note the Recycling Village (with the clothing donations and document shredding) will only be open Sunday, April 22, 2012, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
