Traffic advisory
Detours due to malfunction of the Tamiami Swing Bridge (Delaware Parkway and NW 20th Street)

(MIAMI, February 8, 2014) – Due to a malfunction of the Tamiami Swing Bridge in Miami, the bridge will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic until further notice to allow for emergency repairs to the gear box shaft.  The bridge will remain in the open position for marine traffic.

The Tamiami Swing Bridge connects the Delaware Parkway to NW South River Drive, just north of NW 20th Street in Miami.

While the bridge is being repaired, traffic will be re-directed as follows:

For vehicles traveling on N.W. 36 Street

Detour signs will direct traffic south onto Northwest South River Drive to head west on NW 28th Street to travel south on NW 37th Avenue, then east on NW 17th Street to NW 27th Avenue.

For vehicles traveling north or south on NW 27th Avenue

Detour signs will direct traffic west on NW 17th Street to north on NW 37th Avenue, then east on NW 28th Street to north on NW South River Drive.

Emergency repairs are expected to last a minimum of three weeks.  Motorists are asked to factor additional time in their travel to allow for the detours.
