(MIAMI, October 30, 2014) – Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez and Village of Key Biscayne Mayor-Elect Mayra Peña Lindsay recently cut a bright green ribbon to dedicate the newly completed Bear Cut and West Bridges.  Mayor Gimenez and Mayor-Elect Peña Lindsay were joined by Alina T. Hudak, Deputy Mayor and Interim Department Director for the Miami-Dade County Public Works and Waste Management Department (PWWM), members of the bicycling community, residents of the Village of Key Biscayne, and employees of both PWWM and the Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department.

The ceremony celebrated the completion of the construction project on the Rickenbacker Causeway, which included rehabilitation of the Bear Cut and West Bridges, and improvements to bicycle and pedestrian safety along the Rickenbacker Causeway.  Construction began in the summer of 2013 and was completed this summer, at an approximate cost of $35 million.
