The Miami-Dade County Public Works Department provides a variety of infrastructure-related services required for our community to function. Among these are the construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, sidewalks, street signs, pavement markings, traffic signals, street lights, and storm water drainage facilities that are used every day by the people of Miami-Dade County.

Use this site to find information on traffic signals and signs, the collection of tolls on both the Rickenbacker and Venetian Causeways and local and state mosquito control programs. Public Works is Keeping it NEAT

NEAT stands for Neighborhood Enhancement Action Teams -- and action is truly their middle name! The Miami-Dade Public Works Department has ten NEAT teams patrolling County-maintained roadways, looking for things that need fixing. Broken signs, potholes, uneven sidewalks: you name it, they can usually take care of it right on the spot. See the results for yourself!

Miami-Dade County Public Works Department and the People's Transportation Plan

Since December 2005, the Miami-Dade County Public Works Department has been conducting an alpha test of its new, state-of-the-art Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) at 16 locations countywide. Funding for this new ATMS is being provided in part by $40-million from the People’s Transportation Plan (PTP) – the half-penny transportation surtax overwhelmingly approved by voters in November 2002.

Once fully implemented sometime in 2008, the system will synchronize all 2,600 traffic signals in the County increase the number of vehicles able to pass through the County’s major roadways, and reduce side-street delays.
