Miami-Dade Transit Director tours transportation facilities

Renews focus on service that is clean, safe and reliable

MIAMI (August 05, 2015)

This week, Alice Bravo, Miami-Dade Transit’s newly appointed Director, toured one of the Department’s bus garages to share her strategy for revitalizing County transportation services. Focusing on Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez’s vision to improve mobility throughout the county, Bravo underscored the need to manage transit services effectively to help reduce congestion on local roadways.

“We want to encourage even more people to use public transportation by providing service that is clean, safe and reliable,” Bravo said. “We want the public to have a pleasant experience using our service, and know that they can count on us to provide dependable transportation options.”

Last week, Bravo also toured the Metrorail maintenance facility located near the Town of Medley, where she spoke with rail supervisors and technicians.

Reviewing the new technology that was recently added to the Metrorail maintenance facility, Bravo said she is excited about the new rail cars that are scheduled to begin arriving next year, and about the new ‘real-time’ information that will allow bus riders to know exactly when the next bus will arrive.

“At the end of the day, one of the best ways to deal with traffic congestion is to get more people to use public transportation. We live in a world-class community and my goal is to provide our residents and visitors with a world-class transportation system. For me, mobility is a quality of life issue, making it a top priority.”
