Amelia Earhart Park's "Miami Watersports Complex" set to host USA's largest wakeboard event, Aug. 12-16
More than 325 amateur and pro-series wakeboarders will participate in the "2015 Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships" sponsored by Rockstar Energy.
The Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department in partnership with the World Wakeboard Association (WWA) and Rockstar Energy will host the “2015 Nautique WWA Wakeboard National Championships”, Wednesday – Sunday, Aug. 12-16, at the Miami Watersports Complex (MWC), situated on the 91-acre crystal blue lake at Amelia Earhart Park, 401 E. 65 St., Hialeah. The five-day event will be held from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and feature top male and female amateur and professional wakeboarding champion athletes from across America. The competition marks the final round of the Nautique Wake Series and is expected to draw hundreds of wakeboarding fans from near and far. Event admission is free. Parking is $7 per vehicle. All of the wakeboarding competitors will be towed exclusively by the award-winning Super Air Nautique G23 and G21 boats and those in the “wake park” events will be pulled by MWC’s world-class cable system.
MWC amenities include a sandy beach, palm trees, tiki huts, a pro shop, and a healthy snack bar. Throughout the year, the Complex offers Nautique G23 boats with professional coaches that provide rides/lessons in wake boarding, wake surfing, wake skating, knee boarding, slalom, and more.
