Gratigny Plateau Park celebrates its one-year anniversary with a community block party, hosted by Local 10 News and the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade

MIAMI (August 20, 2015)

Local 10 News and the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade celebrated the one-year anniversary of the dedication of Gratigny Plateau Park with a free community block party on Thursday, August 20, 2015, from 5-6:30 p.m. Local 10 News reporter Glenna Milberg was in attendance broadcasting live from the park and served as the emcee during the opening ceremony, where Parks Foundation, Local 10 News, and Miami-Dade County representatives addressed the residents.

Guests enjoyed refreshments, courtesy of Publix Super Markets, music, and exercise and fitness workouts by the Coca-Cola Troops for Fitness and Miami-Dade Parks wellness coordinators. In addition, Barbara McAdam from the University of Florida/IFAS Miami-Dade County Extension, “Florida Yards and Neighborhoods Program” gave a brief presentation on butterfly and pollinator friendly plants, and later lead volunteers from the 4-H Program and area residents in a volunteer planting project at the park’s butterfly garden. UF/IFAS also gave out a limited number of butterfly friendly plants to area residents to start a butterfly garden in their own yard, extending the park to neighboring homes
