Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department receives award for financial reporting excellence
The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). WASD has received the GFOA Certificate of Achievement Award for 32 consecutive years (since 1982).
“It’s always an honor to be recognized for excellence in any area, especially financial reporting,” said WASD Director, Lester Sola. “We remain committed to transparency and meeting the high standards set by the GFOA.”
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment.
The CAFR was rigorously judged by an impartial panel whose criteria included demonstrating a constructive “spirit of disclosure” to clearly communicate financial stories. The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association comprising approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
