Historic Arch Creek Park hosting two moonlit forest treks

MIAMI (October 06, 2015)

The Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department presents two unique and exciting Miami EcoAdventures™ excursions that allow visitors to experience the amazing expanse of forest, wildlife and haunted past of historic Arch Creek Park, after dark:

Arch Creek Park “Campfire & Night Walk”

Date: Fri., Oct. 16 

Time: 7:30 -9 p.m.

Cost: $6 per person.

Join a park naturalist on a night-time stroll through the tropical hardwood hammock trails, listening and watching for owls, raccoons, spiders, and other nocturnal creatures. Miami-Dade Parks’ Miami EcoAdventures™ in partnership with the South Florida Wildlife Center will release a rehabilitated eastern screech owl in the park for this event. It concludes with a marshmallow toasting around a campfire. Note: Participants are advised to wear closed-toe shoes and bring along a flashlight and a bag of marshmallows. 

Arch Creek Park “Investigative Ghost Tour”

Dates: Sat., Oct. 24; Wed., Oct. 28; & Sat., Nov. 7

Time:  8-10 p.m.

Cost: $15 per person.

Miami-Dade Parks’ Miami EcoAdventures™ teams up with Messengers Paranormal to guide visitors into the haunted woodland trails of historic Arch Creek Park.  Hear stories of paranormal encounters, while discovering the evidence captured by seasoned paranormal investigators. Experience first-hand the chilling sounds of ghostly spirits and a haunt like no other!  The walking tour concludes with ghost stories around a campfire. Note: This activity may include mature subject matter and is for not recommended for children under age 8. Be sure to dress comfortably, wear closed-toe shoes; and bring along insect repellent and any tools to help capture your own paranormal evidence, such as digital cameras, voice recorders, video cameras, dowsing rods, and EMF detectors. Campfire snacks and water will be provided, courtesy of Messenger Paranormal.
