24-hour ASPCA® Mega Match-a-thon pet adoption event and family festival kicks-off this Friday night at Tropical Park
Miami-Dade County Animal Services, the Humane Society of Greater Miami and The Cat Network will host the 2015 ASPCA® Mega Match-a-thon presented by Subaru as a 24-hour pet adoption event and family festival “Marathon” of saving lives through adoption beginning on October 9, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. and ending on October 10, 2015 at 11:59 p.m. at Tropical Park, 7900 SW 40th St, Miami, FL 33155.
The ASPCA® Mega Match-a-thon presented by Subaru is part of large-scale adoption events held nationwide in October in an effort to save the lives of more shelter animals.
Locally, adopters will have a 24-hour window of opportunity to meet, fall in love with and adopt one or more of over a hundred adorable cats, kittens, dogs and puppies from the partner agencies ― as well as several invited local rescue groups ― at low fees, in a fun and festive atmosphere. All pets adopted are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, microchipped and ready to be loved.
The event features round-the-clock entertainment starting with an appearance by Burnie, The Miami Heat’s mascot, who will be onsite to warm-up potential adopters on Friday night from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. The celebration and pet adoptions continue into Saturday with music, a pet themed movie on the lawn and a special appearance by the Miami HEAT DANCERS as well as Billy the Marlin and the Miami Marlins Energy Team. Other highlights include a bounce house, rock climbing wall, and story time for kids. There will also be a variety of food vendors including food truck favorites.
