The emerging Miami Military Museum & Memorial at Zoo Miami Center is hosting a free "Day of Great Music" honoring Veterans, Sunday, Nov. 8

MIAMI (October 28, 2015)

The Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department invites families to attend a free “Day of Great Music” honoring Veterans on Sunday, November 8, 2015.  The event will take place from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. on the lawn of the emerging Miami Military Museum and Memorial at Zoo Miami Center, 12450 SW 152nd St., Miami (adjacent to the Gold Coast Railroad Museum and Zoo Miami).

This pre-Veterans Day celebration will feature musical performances by Florida’s famed 13th Army Band, serving the state, our nation and local communities since 1906. The band of citizensoldiers has performed throughout the southern United States, Dominican Republic, Panama, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Morocco, Saint Kitts, and Guyana for all branches of the Armed Forces and State Department.

There will also be military ceremonies, exhibits of local military heritage and fun activities for the kids — including a rock-climbing wall and face painting.

Event goers are encouraged to spend the rest of their day visiting all the fascinating zoo animals at the nearby Zoo Miami and riding the train at the Gold Coast Railroad Museum.

Miami-Dade Parks is a world-class parks system supported by the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade and focused on Placemaking, Health and Fitness, and Conservation and Stewardship.
