Night hike & flag retirement ceremony on Veteran's Day at The Deering Estate
Walking down the tropical hardwood hammock trail at dusk takes on a whole new meaning to the exploration of the Deering Estate’s natural areas. The monthly night hike, offered on the 2nd Wednesday of each month, offers guests the opportunity to view the woods and it’s wildlife as it comes to life at night. Join us for the next specialized Night Hike on Wednesday, November 11th from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm at the Deering Estate.
Deering Estate Staff will guide guests through the trail to Cutler Creek where they will provide interesting facts about the Tequesta Indians. Listen for great horned owls and eastern screech-owls along the way. This month’s specialty tour will be accompanied by a flag retirement ceremony. Flag retirement is the term used to define the proper and respectful way of destroying United States flags that are no longer fit to serve the nation.
The cost is $15 per person; FREE for military personnel with military ID and for Deering Estate Foundation Members. To register please call 305-235-1668 ext. 233 or register online.
