New hybrid articulated buses added to Transit fleet

MIAMI (November 06, 2015)

On Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez and members of the Board of County Commissioners will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony to introduce the County’s newest hybrid-articulated buses.

The 60-foot, diesel-electric hybrid buses are equipped with Wi-Fi and can carry up to approximately 100 passengers. Regular 40-foot buses can carry approximately 60 passengers.

Twenty-four of the 43 newly acquired articulated buses are already providing service on the South Miami-Dade Busway, with the remaining buses serving some of the County’s most congested corridors, including Biscayne Boulevard and 27th Avenue.

“The addition of these new hybrid articulated buses is one of many steps we are taking forward in improving and enhancing mobility throughout our county,’’ said Mayor Gimenez.
