The golf courses of Miami-Dade Parks recognized by South Florida PGA for contributions to local golf community

Three representatives from the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department were recognized for their contributions to the local golf community at the South Florida PGA Southern Chapter Annual Awards Dinner and Fall Meeting on December 1st at Parkland Golf & Country Club, Parkland, Florida.

The annual awards ceremony highlights the notable contributions of local PGA professionals to the South Florida golf community. The 11 award recipients were selected by a committee of peers based on nominations from supervisors and fellow PGA professionals.

The award recipients from Miami-Dade Parks are:

•Horton Smith Award:  Santos Caceres, PGA – Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne

This award recognizes the professional who provides outstanding and continuous contributions in developing and improving educational opportunities for the PGA Professional.

•Merchandiser of the Year:  Tommy Chipman, PGA – Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne

This award recognizes the professional that has demonstrated superior skills as a merchandiser in the promotion of golf with a focus on the individual’s inventory, shop display, staff, and merchandising techniques at a golf facility.

•Youth Player Development Award:  Larry Levow, PGA – Country Club of Miami

This award recognizes the professional who uses his/her leadership skills to promote and develop junior golf at both the club and community levels.

“We’re honored to be recognized by the South Florida PGA,” said Miami-Dade Parks Manager of Golf Operations and Master PGA Professional, Steve Jablonowski. “These awards reiterate the commitment of Miami-Dade Parks to providing accessible golf facilities and programming to the residents and visitors of Miami-Dade County.”
