Miami-Dade Water and Sewer encourages residents to take advantage of water savings

MIAMI (December 16, 2015)

If you plan on showering your loved ones with gifts this winter, don’t forget to treat yourself!  The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) encourages residents to exchange their old showerhead fixture for a new, high-efficiency showerhead free of charge (maximum 2 showerheads per household).

Showering can account for about 30 percent of a home's water use. With a Miami-Dade County high-efficiency showerhead, water and energy savings in your home add up quickly. High-efficiency showerheads use only 1.5 gallons of water per minute, reducing water demand by at least 50 percent over a standard showerhead.

Miami-Dade County’s high-efficiency showerheads use 20 percent less water, while meeting federal performance guidelines for spray force and water coverage.

Showerheads are available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at The South Dade Government Center, 10710 SW 211 St., 1st  Floor, or at the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department, 3071 SW 38 Ave., 1st Floor.
