Take Miami-Dade Transit to the 2016 Miami Marathon and Half Marathon

MIAMI (January 19, 2016)

Whether you’re running or cheering on a loved one, a great race day is only an EASY Card swipe away. The 2016 Miami Marathon and Half Marathon will take place Sunday, January 24, 2016 and Miami-Dade Transit's Metrorail and Metromover can get you where the action is fast and easy.

The regular Metrorail fare is $2.25 per one-way trip. Metrorail fare gates accept only EASY Cards or EASY Tickets loaded with a pass or cash value. Runners are encouraged to purchase their EASY Tickets at the Miami Marathon website before the race on January 24, to avoid long lines at Metrorail stations the day of the event.

EASY Tickets can also be conveniently purchased at the Miami-Dade Transit’s booth inside the Health & Fitness Expo that will take place January 22-23, 2016 at their new location in Mana Wynwood, 318 NW 23rd ST, Miami, FL 33137.

In addition, both EASY Cards and EASY Tickets are always available at EASY Card ticket vending machines at all Metrorail stations, the Omni Bus Terminal, and at EASY Card Sales Outlets throughout Miami-Dade County. 


On January 24, trains will depart from Palmetto, Dadeland South and Miami International Airport stations at 4 a.m.

Metrorail will provide regular Sunday service with the following frequency:

•   Trains departing from Palmetto Station will leave every 15 minutes until approximately 5:22 a.m. Regular Sunday service will resume after 5:22 a.m.

•   Trains departing from Dadeland South Station will leave every 15 minutes until approximately 6:15 a.m. Regular Sunday service will resume after 6:15 a.m.

•   Trains departing from Miami International Airport Station will leave every 15 minutes until approximately 5:46 a.m. Regular Sunday service will resume after 5:46 a.m.

In addition, parking garages at Metrorail stations will open at 4 a.m. and race goers can park for free at all Metrorail garages. 


Metromover, which is free, will begin service at 4 a.m. the day of the race.


Due to the event, several Metrobus routes will be detoured from 5:30 a.m. until approximately 1:30 p.m.

The routes that will be detoured are: 2,3,6,7,8,9,10,11,12,16,22,77,120 Beach MAX, 249 Coconut Grove Circulator,150 Miami Beach Airport Flyer, B, C, M, and Route S.

In addition, Metrobus routes that provide service in Miami Beach, such as the C, S, M and the 120 Beach MAX will not be traveling on the MacArthur Causeway between 5 a.m. and 10 a.m.

To assist transit riders, major Metrobus routes will be providing service along Lincoln Rd. and 17 St. Shuttle bus service will also be provided between 6 St. and 17 St. via Alton Rd. and Pennsylvania Ave.

We ask that passengers plan their trips accordingly and be aware of possible service delays the day of the event.
