Concert & master class presented by the Deering Estate Chamber Ensemble

MIAMI (January 21, 2016)

The Deering Estate Chamber Ensemble presents a concert on Friday, February 19th at 8:00 p.m. and a String Master Class on Saturday, February 20th at 10:30 a.m. at the Deering Estate located at 16701 SW 72nd Avenue. The concert, "Young Romantics," features works by Mendelssohn, Korngold and Strauss in the acoustically beautiful setting of the Stone house Ballroom. The master class invites top young string players of South Florida for a hands-on tutorial by founding members of the Ensemble.

Friday March 11, 2016 "9 Progressions"
Deering Estate Chamber Ensemble’s ninth season features a culmination of commissioned and classical works. Program includes audience and DECE favorites with works by Composer-in-Residence: Juraj Kojs and Turina, Mozart/Alkan, and Dvorak, as well as a CD release presentation.

Friday May 20, 2016 "Veinte de Mayo: A Celebration of Cuban Composers"
The Deering Estate Chamber Ensemble presents a musical journey of works by Cuban composers from the 19th-21st centuries, including rarely heard virtuosic works by leading nineteenth century Afro-Cuban violinists Brindis de Salas and Jose White y Laffite.

About the Deering Estate Chamber Ensemble
The Deering Estate Chamber Ensemble is comprised of founding members: Jose R. Lopez, piano (Coordinator of Keyboard Studies, Florida International University), Ross Harbaugh, cello (University of Miami), and Laura Wilcox, viola. This ensemble came together out of a mutual respect for nature and the beautiful Deering Estate with a love to perform chamber music, work with living composers, and interact with history, nature and other art forms.

Thanks to The Deering Estate Foundation, Inc. and Miami-Dade Parks, the ensemble has been able to fulfill a unique partnership with The Deering Estate. From different parts of the Americas and sharing in vast musical experiences worldwide, the Deering Estate Chamber Ensemble brings its audiences diverse listening experiences. The ensemble is in their ninth season (2015-2016) and through a commitment to education, the ensemble looks forward to presenting public master-classes and lectures for audiences of all ages.

Cultural Arts Programming is made possible with support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor and Board of County Commissioners, and the Deering Estate Foundation, Inc.
