Miami-Dade Animal Services to host FLUFFY TAILgate Party celebration for shelter pups playing in Animal Planet's Puppy Bowl XII Adoption Extravaganza, Sunday February 7

MIAMI (January 28, 2016)

Miami-Dade County Animal Services (Animal Services) will host a FLUFFY TAILgate party and adoption event to cheer on its puppies who participated in Animal Planet’s PUPPY BOWL XII Adoption Extravaganza. The celebration will take place Sunday, February 7, 2016 at the shelter located at 7401 NW 74th Street, Miami FL 33166 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Animal Services is the only public shelter in Florida that has puppies participating in this year’s PUPPY BOWL! The puppies were chosen based on their playfulness and unique personalities and included, a Labrador/Chow mix named Star, a Cavalier King Charles mix named Luna, a Terrier mix named Timon, and a Labrador mix named Donny. Star and Timon were the pups that made the starting lineup.

The FLUFFY TAILgate party and adoption event will feature pawtograph signing and photo sessions with some of Animal Services’ Puppy Bowl pros. The first 100 adoption fans at the TAILgate party will also receive football themed pet prizes. In addition, sports fanatics who come to adopt wearing their favorite team football jersey will not have to pay the adoption fee!* (*Adopter will only be responsible for a $27 license fee.)

TAILgate party adoption event attendees won’t have to miss the PUPPY BOWL XII Adoption Extravaganza because at 3 p.m. the game kicks off and will be broadcast in the lobby at Animal Services. As the world’s cutest television sporting event, Animal Planet’s PUPPY BOWL XII features two hours of fuzzy faces, sloppy kisses and puppy penalties. The puppies from Animal Services that made it to the lineup will be part of a team that includes furry line barkers and wide retrievers making adorable tumbles and fumbles in an effort to score winning touchdowns for #TeamFluff and #TeamRuff.

“We are always proud of all our dogs and cats, but we can’t help but be especially proud of our Puppy Bowl participants,” said Alex Muñoz, Director of Miami-Dade County Animal Services. “They are an example of the wonderful dogs, puppies, cats and kittens that are awaiting a forever home at the shelter.”

Animal Planet worked with 44 different animal shelters and rescue organizations from across the U.S. this year to fill the rosters of #TeamRuff and #TeamFluff with adoptable players for this epic matchup. The network also is partnering with the Pro Football Hall of Fame to introduce the Puppy Bowl Hall of Fame to honor legacy players throughout PUPPY BOWL and promote the adoption of older “veteran” animals in addition to puppies and kittens.
