Great entertainment & food at the 17th annual "Moonlight & Music" Valentine's Day Concert at the Deering Estate
Celebrate your love at a romantic, outdoor concert under the stars at the 17th annual "Moonlight & Music" Valentine's Day Concert at the Deering Estate on Sunday, February 14, 2016. The concert starts at 8:00 p.m. and the gate opens at 7:00 p.m. The Deering Estate is located at 16701 SW 72 Avenue.
This year’s concert will feature Johnny Rodgers, an internationally celebrated singer-songwriter, pianist, music ambassador, Broadway star and recording artist. Rodgers provides a guided musical tour of Americana pop and is a master of styles ranging from blues, soul, and jazz, to the piano-driven energy of rock and roll. Guests are welcome to bring blankets, lawn chairs, and small picnic baskets. No coolers are permitted. Refreshments and food will also be available for an additional fee including Ms Cheezious Food Truck, Poblanos Mexican Fusion Food Truck, Crepe Maker and Joanna’s Marketplace (pre-ordered picnic baskets). To pre-order, please call Joanna’s Marketplace directly at 305-661-5777. Pre-ordered picnic baskets will be available for pick-up at the concert.
Concert tickets are $25 and can be purchased online for an additional fee or by calling the Deering Estate Sales Office at 305-235-1668 ext. 233. The Ticket Office is open daily from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Please note that tickets are non-refundable, rain or shine.
About the Artist
Johnny Rodgers is an internationally celebrated singer-songwriter, pianist, music ambassador, Broadway star, and recording artist who is described by Stephen Holden, from The New York Times, as an entertainer "who has show business in his bones" with "fused elements of Billy Joel, Peter Allen and Johnny Mercer."
Whether its solo or with his band, Johnny Rodgers dazzles audiences with his Americana mélange of original songs and classic favorites. An official Ambassador of American Music, Johnny tours for the U.S. Department of State to places such as the Middle East, North Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific Islands. He has toured Russia and performed with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra as well as with Igor Butman and his Jazz Orchestra. This June, he and the Johnny Rodgers Band travel to Minsk, Belarus to perform for the US Embassy Independence Day Celebration and the Grodno Jazz Festival.
Johnny Rodgers doubles as Music Director and piano man for Liza Minnelli performances & Tours. He has starred in and written the song, "I Would Never Leave You" for Liza’s Tony Award®-winning Liza’s At The Palace, which was filmed and released by PBS television. Johnny has earned New York’s Nightlife, Bistro and MAC awards for his performances at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Jazz At Lincoln Center, Oak Room at the Algonquin Hotel, Feinstein’s at Loews Regency, and other premiere clubs. His songwriting has been recognized with Billboard and ASCAP Foundation awards.
About the Deering Estate
The 450+ acre Deering Estate is an environmental, archaeological and historical preserve. From canoe tours to bird walks and guided nature hikes, the Deering Estate has diverse activities for the whole family to enjoy. The Estate is part of the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department, which manages the Estate on behalf of the State of Florida.
