Miami-Dade Animal Services hosts a first weekend in February filled with pet adoption specials

MIAMI (February 05, 2016)

This weekend Miami-Dade County Animal Services (Animal Services) is offering pet lovers a variety of adoption opportunities with reduced adoption fees.

• The weekend kicks off on Saturday, Feb. 6 with the annual Open Your Heart and Your Home pet adoption event, sponsored by Commissioner Esteban Bovo, Jr., Dist. 13 The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Amelia Earhart Park, 401 E 65th St, Hialeah, FL. The adoption event—which kicks-off a week of reduced pet adoptions at the shelter and all shelter events—features music, food trucks, pony rides, a farm animal petting zoo and activities for the whole family.

• On Sunday, Feb. 7, Animal Services will host a FLUFFY TAILgate party and adoption event to cheer on its puppies who participated in Animal Planet’s PUPPY BOWL XII Adoption Extravaganza. The celebration will take place at the shelter located at 7401 NW 74th Street, Miami FL 33166 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Also on Sunday, Feb. 7, Animal Services and the Miami HEAT are teaming up again to offer free pet adoptions right before the Miami HEAT’s game against the Clippers. Animal Services' HOPE Express mobile pet adoption trailer will be parked outside the American Airlines Arena from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Pet loving HEAT fans can stop by before the game and Animal Services will keep the furry sports fans waiting to be picked up  to go to their forever homes right after the game.
