Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department receives two 2015-2016 PTI Solutions Awards
The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) has been awarded two 2015-2016 Public Technology Institute (PTI) Technology Solutions Awards in the categories of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) for GIS Maintenance Process Improvement Saves Millions of Dollars and Significant Achievement for GIS - EAMS Auto Asset Creation.
The GIS Maintenance Process Improvement Saves Millions of Dollars project was awarded based on improving the GIS data maintenance process, which put WASD on path to meet its consent decree mandates. Additionally, the department has garnered a productivity increase of more than 60 percent, which amounts to a potential savings of $4 million during a two-year span for employee time and labor related to meeting the consent decree deadline.
The Significant Achievement for GIS - EAMS Auto Asset Creation was awarded based on improved productivity and quality control, as well as creating a seamless compatibility between internal department software programs.
“We appreciate being recognized for developing viable Geospatial Information System solutions,” said WASD Director Lester Sola. “Our GIS resources are an integral part of how we do business and maintain resources.”
PTI’s Solutions Award program is a very prestigious PTI member award program and has been in existence for more than 30 years. This annual award program, only open to PTI members, actively seeks solutions that solve real problems, create a sense of team/collaboration and that are replicable.
