Arcola Lake Senior Center to host "Senior Mobility Fair"

MIAMI (March 10, 2016)

Mobility and accessibility are essential to independent living for people of all ages and most important for keeping active older adults healthy and safe. The Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department in their ongoing collaboration with Miami-Dade Elder Issues Committee/ Mayors Initiative on Aging, to help people age 55+ live a healthy lifestyle are hosting the “Senior Mobility Fair” on Thursday, March 31, 2016, 9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Arcola Lakes Senior Center, 8401 NW 14th Ave., Miami.  This free interactive event with state and local vendors will provide valuable resources and information concerning transportation safety and mobility options. 

The Fair is being sponsored by Miami-Dade Parks’ “Active Older Adults” program, FDOT, CarFit and the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade.  Participating presenters will include: Alliance for Aging, Miami-Dade Transportation and Public Works’ “Golden Passport” program, CarFit, AARP, Walgreens, FDOT’s “Drive Safe 95 Express” campaign and Florida Alliance for Assistance Services and Technology. 

Started in 2013, Miami-Dade Parks Active Older Adults program is designed to help older adults improve their well-being by consistently staying active. The program is offered at parks throughout the county.
