Free family fishing event returns to Tropical Park, April 3

MIAMI (March 17, 2016)

Fishing is one of America’s top recreational activities for families, providing “reel” fun and memorable experiences for parents, kids and grandparents alike, allowing them to spend more quality-time together in the great outdoors. Back by popular demand, the “Vamos a Pescar Miami” (Let's Go Fishing Miami) event casts off its second season, inviting families to come out for a day of fishing and more, from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Tropical Park’s north lake (behind the stadium), located 7900 SW 40th Street, Miami. The event is designed to introduce newcomers to fishing and the outdoors and spark their interest in environmental stewardship.

The Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department is presenting the event, in partnership with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation (RBFF), Bass Pro Shops, and the “Pescando en los Cayos” Spanish TV show with Captain Diego Torian.

The day’s activities will include:

•Fishing/Boating Skills Clinics

•FWC Law Enforcement Presentations

•Sport Shooting Education and Daisy ® Inflatable BB Gun Range

•Wildlife Presentations

•Canoe/Kayak Opportunities
