Tropical Park to host "Transition Resource Fair" on Friday, April 29

The free event aims to prepare students with intellectual disabilities for life after graduation.

MIAMI (March 31, 2016)

The annual “Transition Resource Fair” will take place on Friday, April 29, 2016, from 5-7 p.m., the Mary Abreu Community Center at Tropical Park, 7900 SW 40th Street, Miami. The free event is aimed at helping teen and adult students with intellectual disabilities and their families prepare them to become more independent and smoothly transition into the real world after graduation. This is the second year that the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department’s Division of Disability Services is presenting the event, as part of its continued efforts to improve the lives of people with disabilities in the community.

Representatives from various community agencies will lead discussions and be on hand to answer questions and provide planning resources on these topics: 

• Independent Living

• Community Engagement

• Continuing Education and Vocational Training

• Career and Employment

• Health and Safety

• Recreation and Fitness

• Adaptive Sports
