Miami-Dade Parks' "Live a Park Life Summer Camps" aim to attract kids to nature and adventure by delivering uniquely enriching experiences in the great outdoors

Early registration begins online May 1st

MIAMI (April 08, 2016)

Summer may be months away however, it is not too early to consider a summer camp for your child. Miami-Dade County is utilizing our world-renowned parks to create camps that will help parents combat the enticing allure of television, video games and other sedentary activities. 

Managed by Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department recreation specialists and conveniently located at 29 parks throughout the County, “Live A Park Life Summer Camps” will run from June 13 through August 12, 2016 (select sites open through August 19). The camps will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and offer 7:30 a.m. early drop-off and 6 p.m. late pick-up options. Parents are encouraged to register their children early starting Sunday, May 1st online.  However, families in need of financial assistance must register and apply for assistance in person at their selected park.      

“Miami-Dade Parks Summer Camps gets kids outside and having fun being active. They enjoy fresh air and beautiful scenery and gain priceless experiences with new friends, as they expand their sports abilities, imagination and adventure skills,” said Miami-Dade Parks Director Jack Kardys.  

Unlike traditional day camps, parents can mix-and-match their preferred options, so their children experience a new adventure each week throughout the summer.  

Registration is available at any General or Specialized camp’s host park. Parents can also register their child for most of Miami-Dade County Parks’ exciting Summer Camps online. Families in need of financial assistance must register and apply for assistance in person at their selected park.
