Summer Food Service Program feeds kids for free
Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) will be administering the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) during the months of June, July and August at sites located throughout Miami-Dade County.
The SFSP, funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, provides free, nutritionally balanced meals to children during summer vacation when school breakfasts and lunches are not available. This year, CAHSD will be serving both hot and cold meals at participating sites. All meals are prepared using fresh, locally grown foods, and menus are analyzed for their nutrient content.
The program will operate from June 13, 2016 through August 19, 2016. Nutritious meals will be provided to children 18 years and younger regardless of income, race, color, sex, disability, age or national origin. Program sites are located in geographical areas where 50 percent or more of the children qualify for free and reduced price meals during the school year.
A list of participating sites will be posted on our website in coming weeks. For more information, contact Rani Panchanathan at 786-469-4789 or Susanne DeMatas at 786-469-4671.
