Special theme for 2016-2017 Season: In conjunction with a curatorial project this season, The Sci-Art Symposium, Sci-Art residencies, and a Culmination Exhibition at the Deering Spring Contemporary (April), we encourage applications from Sci-Artists (scientists, artists, and professionals who identify as both) to explore practices that include: New technologies, scientific data, micro-generated imagery, and art-making with the ethic of sustainability, conservation, and preservation. Please note: residency applications are not limited to this type of practice.
About the Program: The Deering Estate seeks to continue Charles Deering’s legacy of art patronage by supporting emerging and mid-career artists who work in a multitude of disciplines and media. The prestigious and competitive Artist in Residence Program is a direct extension of this legacy and acts as wonderful incubator for creative ideas, unique experiences, and collaborative opportunities that engage the public.
As a cultural arts organization we are very proud of the role that our program has had in our artists’ careers, the positive measurable interactions with the public, and even in our growing cultural partnerships. We have had the privilege of presenting and collaborating with internationally acclaimed artists, composers, musicians, playwrights, authors, and performers.
