Need help paying your light bill? Assistance is available through Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services
Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) is now accepting Regular LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program) applications. LIHEAP is a federally-funded program that helps low-income households with their home energy bills. Through this program, qualified residents may receive up to a $475 credit on their Florida Power & Light (FPL) bill. The total benefit received is based on household composition and income.
To be eligible, applicants must reside in Miami-Dade County, have a household income at or below the 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines, and have not received regular LIHEAP services in the past year (365 days). Income eligibility, required documentation, printable applications, service locations and other important information is posted on the CAHSD website.
All CAHSD Community Resource Centers will be distributing and accepting completed applications during the following weeks: May 2-6; May 16-20; May 31-June 3; June 13-17; and June 27-July 1. Applications will be accepted from the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Hialeah and Accion will only accept applications from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.).
