Free demo pumptrack tour comes to Tamiami Park, Friday, June 17
The Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department in partnership with American Ramp Company will host an all-wheel pumptrack demo to be enjoyed by all ages and skill levels from 3-6 p.m., on Friday, June 17, 2016 at Tamiami Park, 11201 SW 24th St., Miami. Bring your bike, skateboard or scooter and come have some fun. Admission is free.
“We are proud to be hosting an exciting experience for the community,” said Miami-Dade Parks Community Engagement Manager Fanny Navarro. “The American Ramp Company pumptrack tour will provide Miami-Dade residents with the opportunity to demo one of today’s hottest trending action sports products and enjoy the free-wheeling sport that they love in a beautiful park setting, while getting a great cardio-physical workout.”
Event is ‘weather permitting’ and will not be rescheduled. For directions to Tamiami Park, visit the web page or call 786-315-5295.
The pumptrack uses an up and down ‘pumping’ motion to propel bike, skateboard and scooter riders forward, allowing them to experience exhilarating thrills, while they learn to improve their balance and skills.
For those who can’t get enough of the pumptrack experience, Amelia Earhart Park at 401 E. 65th St, Hialeah, is now home to a year-round pumptrack called the “SBSX Skills Course for Bikes, Boards and Scooters.” The track operates daily from 10 a.m. to sunset, throughout the summer and charges $20 for a one hour session. A helmet and board or scooter is included in the price. People have to bring their own bikes to ride or can rent one at the adjacent bike trail vendor. There is also a monthly unlimited-use membership for $85. For more information, visit www.skateboardsupercross.com or call 786-529-8187.
