Enjoy free admission to the Deering Estate

This July, discover your super powers at the Deering Estate and join us in celebrating Park & Recreation Month at our Fee-Free "P.L.A.Y." Day on Sunday, July 17, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Enjoy FREE admission and a variety of activities. Superhero attire is welcome! Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Additional Fee-Free "P.L.A.Y." Days will be held at the Deering Estate on Saturday, August 20 and Saturday, September 17, from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Each July since 1985, America has celebrated Park and Recreation Month, a program of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). The goal is to raise awareness of the vital impact that parks, recreation and conservation has on communities across the United States. Park and recreation agencies improve lives through health and wellness, conservation and social equity.

As part of Park & Recreation Month, guests can take a #SuperParkSelfie at the Deering Estate on July 17th. Each week in July has a different selfie theme! From July 11-17, take a #SuperParkSelfie doing something healthy! Submit your selfie via the official NRPA contest page, Facebook or by sharing the photo on Twitter and Instagram with #SuperParkSelfie and #SuperJuly. The NRPA will be awarding a $500 Amazon gift card.

Activities & Programs on Sunday, July 17th include:
Mini-canoe tours at 10:30 am, 12:00 pm, 1:30 pm & 3:00 pm (for a $10 fee; cash only & weather permitting. Space is limited);
 "Birthday Bash" – Charles Deering was born on July 31, 1852. In celebration of his birthday, guests can participate in hands on activities presented in our Small Wonders birthday party package. Explore the magnificent world of insects, birds and reptiles and build your own bug while learning about the different birthday packages, camps, specialty tours and group tours that are offered at the Deering Estate;
• Tropical fruit display provided by Fruit & Spice Park; 
• Learn Fly Fishing techniques from Fly Fishing enthusiast Hunter Serrate;
• Food & beverages will be available for purchase.

The Fee-Free "P.L.A.Y." Days were created to honor the Deering Estate’s partner organizations and the community. Our partner organizations and program partners will be on-site providing information and a variety of activities. The entire public can enjoy a variety of programs and activities – all for free!

Sunday, July 19th - highlighting the Village of Palmetto Bay and its residents
Saturday, August 15th - highlighting Teachers and Environmental Educators
Saturday, September 19th - highlighting Scouts

About the Deering Estate
The 450+ acre Deering Estate is an environmental, archaeological and historical preserve. From canoe tours to butterfly walks and guided Historic House tours, the Deering Estate has diverse activities for the whole family to enjoy. The Estate is part of the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department, which manages the Estate on behalf of the State of Florida.
