Nite hike & flag retirement ceremony at the Deering Estate
Visitors can explore the natural areas and see wildlife at night at the Deering Estate's Nite Hike & Campfire on Wednesday, September 7th, from 7:00 pm to 9:30 pm. Enjoy a guided tour of the tropical hardwood hammock trail to Cutler Creek. Listen for great horned owls and eastern screech-owls along the way. After the Nite Hike, gather under the stars around a campfire by the bay and enjoy complementary s’mores!
This month's night hike will be accompanied by a flag retirement ceremony. Flag retirement is the term used to define the proper, dignified way of destroying United States flags that are no longer fit to serve the nation. These specialized Nite Hikes are free to military personnel and veterans with military ID.
Cost: $15 per person. Free for Deering Estate Foundation Members. To register, please call the Deering Estate Ticket Office at 305-235-1668 ext. 233 or register online.
