The Department of Transportation and Public Works announces special Sunday service to Hard Rock Stadium on game days
In order to make your Sunday-funday experience a little smoother, Miami-Dade County’s Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) is extending route 297 to the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens on game days.
Kicking off with the first Miami Dolphins home game versus the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, September 25, 2016, Metrobus route 297 will operate with a limited stop service.
“By offering this extended service of our route 297 on game day Sundays, we hope to encourage our residents and visitors to give public transportation a try on their way to the Hard Rock Stadium to watch their home team play,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor, Carlos A. Gimenez.
The route will begin at the Earlington Heights Metrorail Station and end at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. The route will continue along Northwest 27th Avenue, skipping only the Miami-Dade College North Campus stop. During the morning hours on the Sundays before kickoff, service will run Northbound toward the stadium at a frequency of every 15 minutes. After the games, service will run Southbound only.
“At Miami-Dade County, our goal is to make it easier to get around without having to get behind a wheel,” said DTPW Director, Alice N. Bravo, P.E. “Just hop on our Metrorail to Earlington Heights and catch the 297 to score a comfortable direct ride to the stadium.”
The first bus will depart Earlington Heights at 10:21 a.m. The last bus for Northbound service will leave at 12:20 p.m. Southbound service will run for two hours after games finish. Regular fares will apply.
