Celebrate "National Weatherization Day" with Community Action and Human Services

MIAMI (October 25, 2016)

Celebrate National Weatherization Day with Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) on Friday, October 28, 2016. This annual event, which includes completing a weatherization project at a Miami-Dade County home, raises awareness of the importance of energy conservation and sustainability, especially within low-income communities.

Through the installation of cost-effective and energy-saving materials, the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) has a 40-year history of making homes more energy efficient. This year, CAHSD will install new bathroom exhaust fans, an Energy Recovery Ventilator, a carbon monoxide detector, energy efficient light bulbs, solar films and a new water heater in a selected Miami-Dade County home. In addition, CAHSD will install hurricane accordion shutters and provide in-kind exterior painting and landscaping.
