The UPS Foundation makes an impact in greening Miami-Dade County through a $25,000 grant to the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade
The UPS Foundation grant will fund local UPS employee volunteer project that will bring more trees to Gwen Cherry Park
For the third consecutive year, Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department, Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade and Million Trees Miami are teaming up with UPS to increase our community’s tree canopy and further Million Trees Miami’s goal to plant one million trees by 2020. As part of this effort, The UPS Foundation, which drives global corporate citizenship and philanthropic programs for UPS, has awarded the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade a $25,000 grant to plant additional trees at Gwen Cherry Park.
UPS employees will come together to give back to their local community and plant over 50 new Florida-native trees at Gwen Cherry Park, on Saturday, October 29, 2016, from 9 a.m. – noon. This employee volunteer tree-planting project will be part of UPS’ “Global Volunteer Month” happening across the globe during the month of October. This project also advances UPS’ worldwide sustainability goal to plant one million trees around the world each year.
Invited guests include Miami-Dade County Chairman Jean Monestime and Miami-Dade Parks Deputy Director George Navarrete who will address volunteers on the significance of UPS’s volunteer and charitable support over the years, and their significant role in greening our community.
