Metrobuses fully wrapped in original works of art hit the roadways

MIAMI (November 02, 2016)

This morning, the Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) rolled out the winning designs of the Transit Loves the Arts contest on five fully wrapped buses.

“By displaying the works of local artists on our buses, we are bringing art to a broader audience while driving through our communities,” said Alice N. Bravo, P.E., Director of Miami-Dade County’s DTPW.

“We want our visitors and residents to feel connected to our transit system and everything we have to offer. These buses featuring original works by local artists will help do just that and encourage new riders to give transit a try,” added Bravo.

The five first place winners and ten runners up were announced in September, after a month-long contest that yielded over 100 entries. Five winners were chosen to have their original artwork displayed entirely as a bus wrap and ten finalists were chosen to have their artwork displayed on bus backs.

The completed Metrobuses are now ready to hit the roadways.

Transit vehicles are highly visible parts of the County, and this contest was an opportunity to showcase local talent and make our transit system more visually engaging.
