Miami-Dade County wins Partners for Places Grant to create cool, comfortable bus stops in Little Havana and Miami Gardens

MIAMI (November 03, 2016)

Located within the Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department, Neat Streets Miami works with communities to create beautiful, green and safe transportation corridors and gateways. Little Havana has only 10% tree canopy and Miami Gardens just 12%. Million Trees Miami’s goal is for every community to have 30% tree canopy. Tree canopy deficiencies contribute to above normal surface temperatures, which translate into increased use of electricity and household utility expenses.

“This innovative grant will provide two communities with tools to create beautiful, green streets,” said Neat Streets Miami Chairman, Miami-Dade Commissioner Dennis C. Moss, District 9. “With Partners for Place’s support, we will be able to improve the waiting experience for bus riders.”
