Winter Camp at the Deering Estate
At the Deering Estate Winter Camp, children, ages 6-14, will explore and discover two of the Deering Estate's protected natural areas: The Tropical Hardwood Hammock and the Florida Pine Rockland. Two, five-day sessions are offered and each session will focus on one of the two habitats. From flora to fauna, campers will get an in-depth look at these two incredibly unique habitats and the modifications made by their inhabitants to thrive there. Deering Estate Campers will get a chance to hike, bike, and conduct experiments while interacting with these beautiful habitats.
Session 1: "Hardwood Hammock"
Monday - Friday, December 26-30, 2016
Session 2: "Pine Rocklands"
Monday - Friday, January 2-6, 2016
Camp is held from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Before care is from 7:30 am to 9:00 am. Pick-up is from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm and late pick-up is available for an additional fee.

About the Deering Estate
The 450+ acre Deering Estate is an environmental, archaeological and historical preserve. From canoe tours to bird walks and guided Historic House tours, the Deering Estate has diverse activities for the whole family to enjoy. The Estate is part of the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department, which manages the Estate on behalf of the State of Florida.
