Volunteers honor Martin Luther King Jr. legacy during MLK Day of Service

MIAMI (January 10, 2017)

The life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is inspiring volunteers to participate in Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces’ MLK Day of Service on Saturday, January 14, at Amelia Earhart Park. In partnership with the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade and the UF/IFAS Extension Miami-Dade County 4-H Youth Development Program and volunteers, the day of service will include various beautification projects, including painting, tree mulching, litter removal, lake clean up, and landscaping, making this recreation space fresh and inviting for the community. The focus of the park enhancements will be the popular Soccer 5 mini soccer complex. All volunteers will receive a light breakfast snack and lunch. Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Esteban Bovo, Jr., District 13, will welcome volunteers during the opening ceremony. To volunteer, register at http://www.miamidade.gov/parks/volunteer.asp.
