Latin Grammy-winning trumpeter Dante Vargas and The Cat Band performing at Tropical Park, March 31

It’s all about the mambo! Put on your dancing shoes and get your body moving at the free Noches Tropicales concert and dance party on Friday, March 31, 2017 at 8 p.m. at Tropical Park, 7900 SW 40th St., Miami. Three-time Latin Grammy winner Dante Vargas and The Cat Band bring their sizzling Latin music sound to the park.

Parking is also free. The family-style concert venue offers open field seating and a dance floor! Whether you dance, or not, you can also bring a blanket, lawn chairs and your favorite picnic snacks.

Born in Peru and Columbian raised, Vargas is known the world over for his fresh and thrilling modern mixes of Latin mambo with boogallo, salsa, and bachata beats to create a one-of-a-kind Latin music experience. He holds three Latin Grammys for his trumpeting virtuoso on the albums “Soy Diferente” (India) 2006; “En Primera Plana” (Issac Delgado) and “Fuzionado”(Oscar D’Leon), both in 2007. The master trumpeter, composer and producer has recorded with famous musical artists like Marc Anthony, Shakira, Ricki Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Frankie Negron, Tito Nieves, and many more. His live performances have included some of the world’s great concert halls and venues, including New York City’s Lincoln Center,  Festival de Veracruz, Miami Salsa Congress, Festival de Italia Latino Americando, North Sea Jazz Festival, among others. Popular albums by Vargas and the Miami-based powerhouse Cat Band, include “Mambo Lives,”  “Gatomania,” “Salsa Del Barrio Vol. 2,” “Mis  Raices,” and  “Bajo la Lluvia.”

This is the finale concert of the 2016-2017 Noches Tropicales concert series. NOTE: In the event of rain, concerts may be cancelled.

Now in its 11th year, Noches Tropicales, inaugurated by Miami-Dade County Commissioner, Sen. Javier D. Souto and produced by Miami-Dade Parks, brings communities closer together through the presentation of culturally diverse entertainment that is free and enjoyable.  Noches Tropicales has showcased more than 38 evening concerts at Tropical Park that have included everything from traditional Cuban contemporary music and zarzuelas to Argentinean tango, Brazilian Jazz, and a Spanish-language version of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.  More than 45,000 patrons have attended Noches Tropicales concerts since its inception.
