Miami-Dade County to host Spring Into Wellness Fair on May 12
Miami-Dade County will host its fifth annual Spring into Wellness Fair on Friday, May 12, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Stephen P. Clark Government Center located at 111 N.W. 1st St., in downtown Miami. This event is part of Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez’s Worksite Wellness Initiative.
Employees, residents and visitors will have an opportunity to participate in engaging activities coordinated by various County departments, nonprofit organizations, and merchants. The common theme among all these activities is to promote and educate a healthier living.
“The Spring Into Wellness Fair also provides an avenue to connect both employees and the community with industry experts, health providers, local merchants and the many services Miami-Dade County offers,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. “While having fun, we are communicating and potentially affecting change.”
An example of what attendees can expect on Friday includes the debut of Miami-Dade County’s Public Library’s new Technobus and Bookmobile. In addition, Animal Services will have pets for adoption; Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces will showcase some of their many programs and facilities; Regulatory and Economic Resources will have its Consumer Protection and Air Quality teams represented; and the Department of Solid Waste Management, Department of Transportation and Public Works, Water and Sewer, and others will be in attendance to provide outreach.
The Spring into Wellness Fair is made possible thanks to in-kind contributions from several County departments and the sponsorship of the Miami-Dade County Employee Wellness Center and its instructors, the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade, Dade County Federal Credit Union, and participating merchants of the Employee Discount Program.
