Vizcaya welcomes military and their families in partnership with Blue Star Families
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is honored to provide free admission to the nation's veterans, active-duty military personnel, including National Guard and Reserve, and their immediate families from Memorial Day through Labor Day in partnership with the Blue Star Museums Program.
Blue Star Museums is a collaboration among the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense and museums across America to offer free admission each summer.
In June Vizcaya is hosting free community art-making workshops entitled, Processional Arts Workshop: an artistic hands-on collaboration, in celebration of the museum's centennial. A dedicated workshop session is also being held for Blue Star Families on Saturday, June 10th. These workshops bring the community together to create illuminated lanterns to be used in an immersive performance to be held on June 17th that retells the story of the Vizcaya Village, a lesser known part of Vizcaya that once served the estate as a farming village. Blue Star families may contact Vizcaya at 305-860-8423 to learn more and to register.
Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is open to visitors daily, Wednesday through Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and is closed on Tuesdays, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. To learn more about Vizcaya visit vizcaya.org or engage on social media.
